The agreement letter spells out the initiatives to be taken by both the parties to develop the area.

Feasibility Study

A feasibility study to be carried out is part of the deal struck and will examine the prevailing social conditions which would fit within the planned development.

Sustainability Strategy

The issue of the feasibility study to be carried out will be taken up with the Municipal authorities in the year 2025 following which a sustainability strategy will also be drawn up.

‘Development First’

Remarked Robert Eenhoorn, General Manager, AZ, “At AZ, we give topmost priority to development and how to develop the club on all fronts. We are also very keen to develop the area skirting the AFAS Stadium and we will carefully examine whether we can go for a mixed-use development. We have a great camaraderie with the Municipality of Alkmaar and we want to further explore together how the above development can augur well for the supporters of AZ and go on to benefit the City of Alkmaar as a whole.”

‘Spiffy Look’

Concluded Christiaan Peetoom, Sports Councilor at the Municipality of Alkmaar, “Developing the area in and around the AFAS Stadium will add a chic look to the venue in keeping with the ambience of the Boekelermeer Business Park and our City Center. The club and the Municipality exploring the possibilities together is a positive development. The AFAS Stadium best mirrors the positive vibes of the City of Alkmaar and the planned development will open up geyser of opportunities.”
