Barça home to run at reduced capacity

Reduced capacity once Barcelona returns to Camp Nou

FC Barcelona

On October 11th the process will get rolling to request a pass for games for the men’s football first team that are to be played this season at the Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain.

While the redevelopment work of the Spotify Camp Nou is still on the LaLiga team FC Barcelona will return to their home stadium and the provisional capacity is expected to be circa 62,000.

‘fcbarcelona.com’ stated that the LaLiga team FC Barcelona will place on sale 45,000 passes which will be available to all members with season tickets at the Spotify Camp Nou for which they will have to fill up a registration form.

The Futbol Club Barcelona, commonly known as FC Barcelona and colloquially as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in LaLiga, the top flight of Spanish football.

The Spotify Camp Nou is a stadium in Barcelona (Spain) and the home of the LaLiga club FC Barcelona since its opening in 1957. It is currently undergoing renovation and with a planned increased seating capacity of 105,000 it will be the stadium with the largest capacity in Spain and Europe and the second largest association football stadium in the world.

Since the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium is undergoing total renovation so the FC Barcelona is presently playing their home games at the 55,926-capacity Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Barcelona, Spain.

‘fcbarcelona.com’ further stated that once the registration period is over, if there are more members registered that places available, there will be a draw. From this part of the process members who purchased a pass for the 2023-2024 seasons at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys will be exempt and they will have an exclusive 72-hour period to purchase a pass without having to register.

This provisional pass will give access to the official games that remain to be played by the men’s football first team at the Spotify Camp Nou this season and at the moment include the games from the second half of the season in LaLiga, and if needed, the ties in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League (an annual club association football competition contested by the top-division European clubs) and the Copa del Rey (an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football) from the last 16 stage. The registration period to acquire a pass is from October 11th to October 23rd and can be acquired by filling up the requisite form.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

Once the above period is over, should there be more applications compared to the seats available, a draw will take place on October 24th to determine the recipients of the passes and the lucky members will then have time from October 28th to November 11th to complete their purchase. Exempt from this part of the process are the members, irrespective of the fact whether they are season tickets holders or not, who purchased a pass for the 2023-2024 seasons at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys who can purchase a pass for Spotify Camp Nou during an exclusive 72-hour period from October 25th to October 27th.

Once the process is complete, in the event that passes are still available, the members who have not been lucky enough in the draw will be able to purchase the remaining passes. As happens at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, the pass holders will have guaranteed access to all games as long as they confirm attendance during the time frame specified.

Spotify Camp Nou Prices and Zones

In total, during this first phase of the return to Spotify Camp Nou, 45,000 passes will be issued for sale representing 85 percent of the regular seating capacity of the stadium, excluding the VIP seats.

These seats will be distributed across the grandstand, the lateral zones, the goal ends, and the corners of the first and second tiers as the third tier will still be under construction. Prices range from €755 for a central grandstand pass in the second tier to €260 for a goal end pass in the first tier. If fewer matches are played at the Spotify Camp Nou than initially included in the pass, a proportional refund will be made.

The pass holders can choose any zone, regardless of the ones they previously had as Spotify Camp Nou season ticket holders.

A variable seating system will be applied in a similar fashion to the one deployed at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. This means that the pass holder will choose the zone, but not the specific seat, which will be assigned match by match. Up to six seats can be grouped together. The seat locations will vary for each match but will always be within the designated zone of the pass. As at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, the Seient Lliure (Free Seat) service will no longer be in place and there will also be no children’s tickets, or passes for the supporters’ clubs (penyes). Please note that this is a temporary arrangement and is expected to remain in force until the stadium returns to full capacity.

Also note that the Spotify Camp Nou season ticket holder status will be suspended during the 2024-2025 seasons until matches can be held at full capacity. During this suspension period, the members do not have to pay the season ticket fee but will retain their rights to seat allocation once the Spotify Camp Nou returns to full capacity.

Stadium Return

The return to Spotify Camp Nou will happen while some of the redevelopment work is still in progress and the provisional capacity is expected to be around 62,000. The spectators will enter the stadium by means of a temporary access control system. The permanent seating will already be in place as well as the temporary lighting and the restroom facilities will be available in the first and second tiers. Catering services will also be on offer among other amenities. Two hundred parking spaces will be available which will be reserved for club commitments, reduced mobility fans and other operational needs on matchdays.
