Scottish Premiership club Dundee F.C. is continuing to push ahead with plans to build a new stadium complex at Camperdown in the city.

Dundee F.C. said that since Dark Blue Property Holdings Ltd submitted its Planning Permission in Principle documentation to the planning department of Dundee City Council on February 8 for the Camperdown Stadium project, it has continued to work tirelessly in the background with consultants to ensure the vision can become a reality as efficiently as possible.

Earlier this year it was announced that Holmes Miller Architects had been appointed by Dundee FC to begin work on designing the new stadium.

‘Holmes Miller Architects’ stated that the project will see the development of plans for a proposed new, state-of-the-art stadium as part of a mixed-use development at Camperdown to replace the club’s current home of Dens Park, which dates back to 1899.

Dundee Football Club is a professional football club based in the City of Dundee, Scotland (UK), founded in 1893. The team are nicknamed ‘The Dark Blues’ or ‘The Dee’.

Dens Park, officially known as the Scot Foam Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Dundee, Scotland (UK), which is the home of the Scottish Premiership club Dundee F.C. and has a capacity of 11,850.

The new stadium will be the centerpiece of a mixed-use destination featuring a 120-room hotel with health and wellbeing facilities, a Dundee FC training center, residential development, and a City crematorium.

These will be crafted within new landscaped public realm served by a dedicated bus terminal, cycle hub and electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities to create a well-connected new district of Dundee.

The stadium will have a capacity in excess of 12,500 and is designed to host music concerts and other major entertainment events.

Plans also include a safe standing area in the home end, installation of state-of-the-art LED screens, and tiered hospitality offerings for all fans to enjoy as part of the experience, including a 250-capacity brew hall.

The club already has the backing of the Scottish FA and the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) for the Camperdown Stadium Development project.

Dundee said that following the awarding of planning permission for the city’s Eden Project on June 20, it had received feedback from the council’s planning department on June 28.

The club added in a statement, “Since then, we have continued to engage with consultants as well as the planning department to ensure the submission is not only compelling and compliant but enables a more efficient next step in the submission on a full planning application.

“While we are all eager to bring the Camperdown Stadium Project to life, we will continue to respect the planning process in the hope that the council observes its stated objective to ‘work with developers to remove barriers’.”

Dundee said it will soon publish a spectacular visual fly-through of the new stadium to whet the appetite of fans, alongside a new FAQs section on a new microsite within the existing club website.

This follows the exciting news last week that the Dundee FC Community Trust has submitted a planning application for a new community training hub at Riverside.

This will accommodate the club’s extensive community and youth programmes, as well as girls’ and women’s football and the Dundee FC first team.
