Severe thunderstorm is causing havoc across Germany. Torrential rains have brought life to a grinding halt in the South of the German State of Baden-Württemberg.

‘t-online.de’ stated that following the inclement weather the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim, Germany, has been totally flooded.

The 30,150-capacity Rhein-Neckar-Arena, currently known as the PreZero Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a multipurpose stadium in Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

The TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a German professional football club based in Hoffenheim, a village of Sinsheim, Baden-Württemberg. Originally founded in 1899 as a gymnastics club, the Hoffenheim came into being in its modern form in 1945. It plays in the Bundesliga, the top of the German football league system and the PreZero Arena serves as their home field.

Recently, the German Weather Service (DWD) had already declared alert Level Four for the South of Baden-Württemberg: “Extreme storm”. The State is currently reeling under torrential rains, storms and hailstorms. What’s more: There is a possibility of “great danger to lives and limbs from lightning strikes”.

People should also be careful as there also lies the possibility of “rapid and widespread flooding of streets, underpasses and cellars”. Landslides cannot be ruled out.

‘t-online.de’ further stated that the PreZero Arena has got completely inundated due to heavy showers and the pitch is also totally under water.

The TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has posted a fish emoji along with a meme from an Indian Instagram user who has used an “under water” filter on his picture and has written – “Hello, how are you? I’m under water, help me, it’s raining too much.”

Curiously enough, the City of Sinsheim’s website carries an advertisement dated July 27th informing about the transport of a historic submarine which will pass through the City and writes, “The TSG Hoffenheim will be celebrating the transport of the submarine on the grounds of the arena from 12 noon. By then, the stadium should dry up and be free from waterlogging.”

The Rhein-Neckar-Arena, which now officially bears the name the PreZero Arena, opened in January 2009.
