The GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City (Mexico), formerly known as the Foro Sol, reopened its doors on August 8th following total transformation. The refurbished venue will host shows and Formula 1 events and is high on the luxe factor.

A ‘LinkedIn Post’ stated, “Among the updates made, 30,000 new seats have been installed in lieu of the traditional concrete stands and the comfort quotient will be high for the people to enjoy and watch all kinds of events. Bruno Mars (American singer and songwriter) opened the venue with shows on August 8th, August 10th and August 11th.”

The 65,000-capacity Estadio GNP Seguros, formerly known as Foro Sol, is a multipurpose stadium built in 1993 inside the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Eastern Mexico City. It is located near the Mexico City International Airport and is operated by Grupo CIE (Mexican entertainment and media company). The venue was originally built for staging large music concerts.

The 110,000-capacity Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a 4.304 km motorsport race track in Mexico City, Mexico, named after the racing drivers Ricardo Rodríguez and Pedro Rodríguez. The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix.

London (UK)-based Formula One, commonly known as Formula 1 or F1, is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Paris (France)-based the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) is an association established on June 20th, 1904 to represent the interests of the motoring organizations and the motor car users. It is the governing body for several auto racing events including Formula One. The FIA also promotes road safety around the world.

The ‘LinkedIn Post’ further stated, “The renovated facility will host various sporting shows, concerts and showpiece events.”

Sustainability Practices

‘Pollstar’ stated that the renovations included the installation of a new 139,930.84 square foot roof that will serve to protect the fans from the weather elements. With sustainable practices at the forefront, the venue is practicing rainwater harvesting. The additional sustainability initiatives include the use of light-emitting diode (LED) lamps and equipment with minimum power consumption.

‘Pollstar’ further stated that the renovated facility will provide an exhilarating in-venue experience for the fans, spoilt for choice food, more restrooms, and more than 280 state-of-the-art screens have been installed throughout the venue to improve the fans’ viewing experience.
