Summer bar concept within Planet Group Arena in Gent Image: KAA Gent

The most original bar in Ghent in Belgium has popped up at KAA Gent’s Planet Group Arena for the summer.

Bar Pelouse is a unique pop-up restaurant and bar with a terrace next to the pitch where visitors can enjoy a tasty lunch, delicious aperitif tapas or just drinks after work.

In addition to food and drinks from the extensive menu, the unique venue will also offer fun entertainment including darts, a bouncy castle for children and shelter from rain or bright sun.

Bar Pelouse is a collaboration between The Arena Group and KAA Gent, where the stadium is opened to a wider audience who are able to take advantage of a varied programme of events.

The Planet Group Arena is a multi-use stadium in Ghent, Belgium, until 2024 known as Ghelamco Arena.

It hosts the home matches of football club KAA Gent and was officially opened on 17 July 2013, making it the first newly built Belgian football stadium since 1974.

The stadium seats 20,185 and replaced the Jules Ottenstadion, which had been Ghent’s home since 1920.

KAA Gent has been playing in the Belgian First Division A since the 1989–90 season. They won the national league once, in 2014–15.

Tom Vandenbulcke, communications manager KAA Gent said, “With Bar Pelouse we offer a unique experience and we also open the doors of our stadium in the off-season to both football fans and bon vivants, from young to old.”

The bar will be open from June 10 – July 4. Opening hours are every weekday: 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM (Lunch menu); Monday to Thursday: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Apero tapas menu) Location: Planet Group arena, parking A (near the KAA Gent fan shop).

In 2020 fans of Amsterdam Club Ajax were able to enjoy meals at a pop-up restaurant at the Johan Cruijff Arena with tables laid out along the edge of the playing surface.

The Langs de Lijn eatery opened for business for the summer and fans were able to enjoy two culinary three-course menus provided by top chefs.

Customers also got the full stadium experience with a peek into the dressing room also included in the hospitality provided by the club.
