Light fantastic Lincoln Financial Field

Lincoln Financial Field was recently transformed from an NFL venue into a dazzling theatrical experience for all Wrestlemania 40 attendees, with the whole venue bathed in brilliant light.

As each wrestler entered the stadium, they were accompanied by a synchronized light show that matched their theme colors.

The lights were also programmed to strobe and dance in different patterns, matching the energy of each wrestler.

Lincoln Financial Field is the home of the Philadelphia Eagles and the spectacular new Sportsbeams lighting system was first seen in action at the team’s 2023 opening home match.

The stadium was illuminated by the new single-glass optic LED light fixtures during team introductions and after every Eagles touchdown. The team’s iconic Kelly Green colours were brilliantly displayed using RGBW Chromabeams 1500 LED Fixtures.

The installed light fixtures are capable of instantly switching from white light to one of 2 million RGB color options, through a quick and responsive digital command that can be controlled from a click of a button.

This allows any experienced stage lighting professional to create an ambitious, one-of-a-kind light show with rapid speed and ease, while matching the exact mood required for the performance on the field.

Lincoln Financial Field is now at the forefront of a new movement in sports lighting technology and the lights were on full display for the world at WrestleMania 40, where in-house lights were utilized during the entire show.

The 67,594-seat stadium, expandable to over 70,000, hosted its first game on August 3, 2003, when the Philadelphia Eagles played the New York Jets in a preseason matchup.

As well as being home to the Philadelphia Eagles the venue also hosts Temple University Owls football.

The stadium has hosted various notable events, including the annual Army-Navy Game, CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, and the NHL Stadium Series.

Many superstar concerts have been held at the venue, featuring artists like Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé.

The stadium will also play a crucial role in hosting the FIFA World Cup 26™. ‘The Linc’ is a prominent venue for large-scale events and entertainment.

WrestleMania 40 in 2024 marked the event’s return to Philadelphia after more than two decades.

It came after World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced that WrestleMania 39 became the most-successful and highest-grossing event in the company history.

The two-night, sold-out event held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (US) on April 1^st-2^nd, 2023 set new records for viewership, gate, sponsorship, merchandise, and social media.

Lincoln Financial Field was recently certified as a LEED Platinum building for its commitment to operational sustainability.

It is one of only two previously constructed stadiums in the National Football League to achieve Platinum status – the highest of all LEED certifications – and the only one that is more than 10 years old.
