The Rugby Football Union (RFU) (UK) has appointed Anthony Mundy as its Executive Director of Venue.
‘England Rugby’ stated that Mundy will join in December from the Premier League team Leicester City Football Club where he has spent five years as the Operations Director. Prior to that he was the Operations Director at the Lancashire County Cricket Club (a leading English cricket club that represents the historic county of Lancashire) and the Facilities Director at the former Ricoh Arena (now the 32,753-capacity Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry, England (UK).
London (UK)-based the Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the national governing body for rugby union in England. It was founded in 1871 and was the sport’s international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as the World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organizes the international matches for the England national team and educates and trains the players and the officials.
Dublin (Ireland)-based World Rugby is the governing body for the sport of rugby union. World Rugby organizes the Rugby World Cup every four years, the sport’s most recognized and most profitable competition.
‘England Rugby’ further stated that Mundy will lead the 82,000-capacity Allianz Stadium’s (Twickenham, London) commercial activity including major events and year-round conference and events as well as the onsite hotel, fitness and leisure center and the World Rugby Museum. His previous stadium development experience will be of huge value as he leads ambitious plans to redevelop the Allianz Stadium over the next decade.
The World Rugby Museum is a sports museum in the South Stand of the Twickenham Stadium (officially known as the Allianz Stadium for sponsorship reasons) in London, England. Its collection comprises over 37,000 pieces of rugby memorabilia, boots, balls, jerseys, programs, match-tickets, books, and assorted paraphernalia.
